5 Spaces I Love Series: House Beautiful's Digital Director, Hadley Keller
1. Monet's Kitchen at Giverny
"You knew Monet could paint, but did you know about his interior design? The artist's home at Giverny is a colorful delight, and my favorite part has to be the kitchen, covered in blue tiles and outfitted with copper pots (though the all yellow dining room is a close second!)" 3. Bunny Mellon's Garden Shed
"At House Beautiful we talk a lot about how ANY space can be beautiful—laundry room, pantry, you name it. Nowhere is this more evident, in my opinion, than in Bunny Mellon's potting shed at her garden in Upperville, VA, which she tapped French painted Fernand Renard to completely cover in trompe l'oeil imagery of plants, gardening tools, and her favorite things." 5. The Bedroom at Hubert de Givenchy and Philippe Venet's Le Jonchet
"What's not to love about floor-to-ceiling Branquenié? Paired with a simple sisal rug and this incredible canopy bed, it's a dream. And the view out to Givenchy's gardens don't hurt either! I'd like to see a return to the allover pattern look."
What started as a team exercise to help define our personal styles blossomed into a full series spotlighting our favorite tastemakers as they share their 5 favorite spaces of all time. If you're a lover of color, chintz, and overflowing china cabinets, this one's for you! Scroll below to meet Hadley and to step inside her favorite spaces.
Meet Hadley Keller
Hadley is a writer and editor living in New York. She currently serves as Digital Director at House Beautiful, where she oversees digital content and strategy for the brand in addition to working on the print magazine. Before that, she served as the founding editor at Architectural Digest's AD PRO as well as market editor and design reporter for that magazine. She is a proud maximalist and antiques lover who can never resist a good tag sale. "This was one of the HARDEST exercises I've ever done! As someone who gets to look at beautiful rooms all day, it was nearly impossible to pick 5; I decided to go with all historic rooms, since there's no way I could pick just 5 among designers working today." Hadley is a proud maximalist and antiques lover who can never resist a good tag sale. "This was one of the HARDEST exercises I've ever done! 2. The China Closet at Alvøen Country Manor, Norway
"It is my dream to have a closet to store my ever-expanding tabletop collection, and I can't imagine a prettier display than this arched design at a 1797 mansion in Norway." Image credit: Bergen City Museum
4. The Green Drawing Room at the Greenbrier
"This room (which was on the cover of HB in 1948!) is such a great example of Dorothy Draper's mastery of color. This rich, hunter green is timeless and so perfect with all the bronze in the room and those incredible, oversized chintz curtains. It even works with a deep red carpet—proof of how spot-on this tone is."
