Christmas in the City

Our hospitals bags weren't packed but the wreaths were hung and the tree was up! We brought our baby girl home aka the best Christmas gift ever to the coziest apartment and it's been magical and loving and happy to say the least :)

Decorating a small New York apartment comes with its challenges but a few smart purchases, that also store well in minimal closet space, made our place feel cozy and bright. Scroll for quick tour and a few sources below.

Don't forget you can shop our apartment, furniture designed and made by the Society Social team, HERE!

Merry Merry!
Roxy, Alan, Austen, & Oscar

These special roses were sent by our TV production team who we love so! Albert who heads up the operation always leaves us with the best energy and is the most wonderful soul. Austen Kelly's name was partly inspired by owner, Kelly Ripa! I've always been a fan and chose the name because all the Kelly's I could think of are strong, hardworking women who are also amazing daughters, mommas, wives, sisters and so on! Kelly Ripa, bff Kelly W., Princess Grace Kelly (duh ;)...
Last year was the first year ever Alan and I had room for a normal size tree. Oh New York! When buying ornaments Alan and I decided on a coastal theme because we love the beach and would secretly, or not so secretly, would love to live there one day! This special bassinet was made and handwoven with lots of love by the Society Social factories! My niece and nephew used it before Austen and we hope all the grand babies to come will use it too. Family heirlooms are so special to us!Kelly Ripa "signed" the card that came with the roses and Austen and I are pretending she signed it herself and that we are all best friends. We don't have Austen's nursery furniture yet (the cobbler's children!) so instead of a glider I have been swiveling while feeding her. The Stevie Swivel holds us both so perfectly! The Sedgewick bar cart is my very first design from when I launched Society Social back in 2011. It's still a best seller and is a winner for serving and storage year round!

I couldn't have anything but a tassel sofa inspired by all the tassels in Tory Burch homes and the silk art above is custom, hand-painted and the jumping off point for the colors in the APT!These accordion paper trees from West Elm were so affordable and fold up so neatly. They are simply perfect for small space decorating or decorating on a budget. Satin ribbon costs a few dollars and I tied it on just about everything! Mini LED lights on a wire are almost invisible and intertwine so easily in garlands and more!Don't forget you can shop all our furniture HERE! We design and make it with much excitement and love! The Carmen Credenza has been the perfect piece for serving, decorating, and storage! I love preserved boxwood so much. I can re-use the wreaths year to year and they are the closest to real looking as you can get! I've hung them on the apartment door, our bar cart, on walls, and anywhere I can! Alan Dale has a hook system in one of our few closets where they hang in the non-holiday months. Macarons and cocktails are the perfect snacks for a sip & see for little Austen! It's been wonderful to welcome a new baby home during this time of the year!I almost hate to admit it but the piece under the TV is an old ikea hack from our first NYC apt 6 years ago. I wish just starting Society Social and we were on a super budget. Our factory painted it black and I purchased fancy chinoiserie hardware to make the cheap drawer chests look like antique piece! This 1970s burlwood table pairs perfectly with our handwoven Society Social Bridgehampton chairs complete with fancy smancy brass ferrules. The table has a leaf so expands out to seat 6. This is where we eat all our meals and we have views of downtown Manhattan and the Freedom Tower. It's dreamy.Merry Christmas friends! We wish you all the blessings and warm wishes the world can bring! XOXO!
