French Blue is the New Millennial Pink

The millennial pink movement gained momentum amongst modern decorators and has remained popular for years. Colors come in and out of popularity but, millennial pink has found a way to stick. We thought this color was dead and over but, in 2019 it continued to pop up in commercial and residential spaces alike. Now the design community and consumers are feeling overexposed as advertising and marketing has taken the color from a creative, cool choice to something mass marketed and overused. 2020 is the official year when everyone can let it go.

We always knew our girl loved blue & white and it was no surprise that when we turned to the stats, over half of our fabric samples requested last year were blue - the people have spoken and French blue is officially the new millennial pink and the new American neutral.

We felt a true french blue was missing in the market, specifically in the print category and turned to a brand & customer favorite, Brunschwig & Fils' Les Touches to collaborate on a signature colorway. We worked closely with Brunschwig & Fils' design team to hand-select two blues that would ultimately make up the signature spot.

French blue not only caters to the traditionalist, but also to Grandmillennials who are putting a fresh spin on traditional decorating. Serving as a neutral with grey undertones, French blue is a fresh, classic color that works with every style. A brand and customer favorite, French blue was the perfect way to add a Society Social stamp to this iconic pattern. The print that has been around for more than half a century, looks younger and more versatile than ever.

Our signature Les Touches French Blue fabric offering officially debuted at the grand opening of our flagship store, Society Social Charlotte last month. This new offering is beautifully displayed on our 10ft custom drapes complete with scalloped cornices as well as on our Duchess Chair wall installation boasting a rainbow of Les Touches.
We believe the way in which the millennial pink movement gained popularity amongst modern decorators, our reinterpretation of Les Touches in our signature French blue will garner the same excitement.
This signature print is exclusively available through Society Social on our custom upholstery offerings and also available for purchase by the yard.
