12 Before & Afters of our New North Carolina Showroom!

This past year we recently closed down our Soho Showroom as we finalized our plans to renovate and redesign a brand new showroom at our NC factory!

The main entrance and lobby area at the factory had not been touched since the early 80's and was in desperate need of a makeover!

We're talking carpeted walls, tile dropped ceilings, florescent lighting, etc. Despite all of this, we knew the space had great potential!

We started drafting up plans and sketches for the new design while still in NYC.
We gathered images for inspiration, sourced fabrics at the D&D Building, and made numerous trips to Sherwin Williams to find the perfect paint colors for our new Color Collection pieces. We tried to plan as much as we could from afar since we knew it would be a mad dash to the finish line once we made it down to NC! Our multi-talented SS team member, Melissa, sketched up our plans to help us bring them to life and now they hang on our inspiration board in our showroom to remind us of where we started!
With only 3 weeks until the showroom opening date, we began the reno!
It was all hands on deck as we worked hard to bring this space from dreary and drab to bright and colorful! The first step in the reno process was to remove the drop ceiling tiles. We took down the tiles one by one and removed all florescent lighting so we could raise the ceiling a few inches. Those few inches really made a difference! We then removed the old flooring and the carpeted walls. Since the walls had not been touched for over 30 years, removing the carpet was a tedious task that involved a hand steamer and a LOT of patience. We widened the main doorway between the two rooms to make it feel like a more cohesive space. With the walls and floors stripped, we put in new flooring, put up the drywall, added molding and finished it off with a fresh coat of paint. That in itself was a huge transformation!
These pics were taken just a week and a half before the grand opening!
The first piece in was our gorgeous signature chandelier - a sputnik to remind us of our first showroom at Spring Street!

To make the space feel larger and more of a cohesive look, we doubled the width of the doorframe and knocked out the middle overlay so both walls extended floor to ceiling.

No windows no problem! We framed out the back wall with custom curtain panels centered around our Ming Color Collection Consoles and our new favorite Palm Beach Abstract pieces! The space still felt light and airy without any actual light coming in!
